I was bored so I decided to give my blog a minor makeover. Not too bad for my knowledge (rather, my lack of knowledge) of HTML and Javascript, I think. I got the background from this awesome site: happyprofile.com. The website features a myriad of different backgrounds, icons and headings that you can choose from and use FOR FREE. Haha, I love free stuff. The website is run by Leslie, whose blog I read occasionally (though she has no knowledge of my existence), and I found her blog through Annie's blog.
This is what happens when I get bored and start clicking on links =)

Weekend shopping excursion
Well, it certainly has been a while since I've written an entry. There's really not much to write about. My life has whittled away into a pretty boring routine: wake up, get ready for work, travel to work, work, travel home, eat, TV/hula-hooping, shower, sleep and REPEAT. I'm in bed every night by 11, latest 11:30. Work has kept me busy and has also left me too tired to really do much of anything else.
My past two weekends have been quiet, and filled with minimal levels of excitement. Steph and I went swimming last Saturday, hung around my house for a while, and went to the movies (saw Star Trek. Just as good as the first time I watched it!). Today, I spent the day with my parents; we ran some errands, went to the mall and then picked up some groceries. Like I said, not too much excitement. I did, however, want to post a picture of some of the things I got today... because... well, I haven't really been taking pictures lately, and I got bored earlier this evening, and took pictures of my purchases so I might as well post something ;p

And this was the big purchase of the day. But I think it is definitely worth it. My neck and shoulders have been hurting and aching for a while and I am pretty sure it is because of the way I sleep so I am hoping that this will help with that.
Other than that, there isn't really much to say. MY LIFE IS BORING.
... it's kind of nice.
... it's kind of nice.

My first award ever!
Thanks Annie for the award!! It made my day, haha.
I'm passing this award to: Camille, Lan, Cindy, and whoever else sees this post! :)
So, today was my first official day at NMAI. And while I had hoped that everything would go smoothly, I quickly learned that nothing ever goes according to plan. My day started off pretty un-smoothly because of:
1. The random thunderstorm at 3 AM this morning that scared the bejeebus outta me.
2. The fact that I woke up super early to squeeze in some swimming before work (so I was reeeeally tired)
3. The new "work appropriate" shoes I bought yesterday hurt my feet. Oh, the joy of breaking in a pair of new shoes ;p
4. The bad, rainy weather that I was not prepared for. Luckily, I was able to meet up with my parents, who brought me an umbrella before I headed off to the subway.
5. And here's the kicker: I was late to work ... on my first day. I wanted to die. Who's late on their FIRST day???? Aghhhh.
But that was just the beginning. The rest of the day wasn't too bad. My supervisors were really nice and told me not to worry about being late today. I didn't do that much today. My supervisor, Dennisse took me around to all the secure doors to make sure my ID card got access to all of them. I felt very official. I met a lot of the staff today too, which also means a lot of names I have to remember! After walking around, I went into the classroom where I'll probably be spending most of my time during this internship, and helped organize all the materials that were ordered for the "Indian Summer" camp. I also began preparing the materials for week 1's activity. Not too much excitement on the first day.
I didn't have a chance to explore the area too much during my lunch break. My feet were in too much distress to walk very far so I went across the street and settled in Starbucks for a while. I was going to go to Chipotle for lunch, but the line was ridiculously long, so I opted out. I'm going to start bringing my own lunch though; I don't want to spend my money on lunch all the time.
So, since I'm in the ARTS Intern program, I not only work at NMAI, but I also have to go visit all the other museums that are in the program as well. I think there are 12 or so institutions involved this year, a lot of which I've never even heard of, so I'm looking forward to that. Also, the director of the ARTS Intern program, Tom mentioned yesterday that I can go visit all the museum institutions in NYC for FREE this summer, AND I can bring a friend with me! How cool is that??! (How much of a dork do I sound like right now?) So, who wants to go visit museums with me??? :)

100th blog post!
Happy 100th post, blogspot!
I've had this blog for 2 years now, and slowly, but surely I got to 100 posts. Woot. May there be many more [interesting] posts to come ;)
Anyhoo, I spent the day hanging out with my parents. I helped my mom make lunch and we talked for a while about serious adult things. Or rather, it was more she talked at me, and I just listened. After lunch, we swung by Blockbuster's to return the movies we borrowed and then headed to the mall. I picked up a skirt and a pair of shorts at H&M, and a pair of jeans from Guess. I was originally going to get 2 pairs of jeans, but one of them (they were skinny jeans and I really wanted them, but my mom thought that I shouldn't buy them) turned out not to be on sale (even though I got them from the sale rack). Heck no, I wasn't going to pay $90 for them. I liked them, but I didn't like them THAT much.
I joked to my mom afterward that because she didn't really want me to get them, they magically weren't on sale anymore. She laughed, and told me that maybe next time, after I lose some weight, I'll find a pair that will be on sale.
She is hellbent on making me into the skinny Asian girl I should have been.
Anyway.
Tomorrow is the first day of my internship. Work at the museum actually isn't starting until Tuesday. I have orientation tomorrow with all the other ARTS Interns at the Rubin Museum. Ever heard of it? ... Me either, until I got my email about the orientation. I'm kind of excited, and a little nervous. I'm not really sure what to expect.
Yay for impending adventures =)

Maybe... he's just not that into you.
I watched Bride Wars and He's Just Not That Into You tonight with my mom. Well, not really, because she fell asleep for the majority of both the movies. She's still a bit jet-lagged from China and has been passing out on the couch for the past week by 8pm.
Anyway.
I liked both the movies, but the one I wanted to mention was He's Just Not That Into You, because well, I'm at that age where girls and guys go out to bars and they mingle and meet each other and hook up and whatnot. Or... at least that's how the movies portray it. I'm at that age where it's all about the meeting new people and partying and hooking up, or whatever. At least, I think that's what people my age are doing nowadays. Honestly, I have no idea. A lot of the times, I think that's just how white people (or non-Asian people in general) roll. ...Or do they? Seriously, I really have no idea.
In the movie, there were all these inter-mingling relationships and drinking and promiscuity and drama; it made me wonder if stuff like that actually happens. I can't imagine meeting someone at a bar (or even at a coffee shop or at a bookstore or on the street) and hitting it off and eventually dating or something. That idea of just meeting some complete stranger and then dating is so foreign and strange to me.
I'm the kind of girl who likes to be friends with a guy and actually knowing him well enough before I even consider a relationship.
In my own experience, and within my own circle of friends, I've never seen the kind of drama that splayed out in He's Just Not That Into You. I mean, I've seen a liiiiiiiiiittle bit of it now that I'm in college, but never to that extent. In my world, guy meets girl, they become friends, guy likes girl, girl likes guy, guy and girl get together, fall in love and get married and they live happily ever after. Pretty simple, right? It's so ... simple. And idealistic. But a lot of relationships aren't like that.
...I think...?
Am I making sense? Or do I just sound silly? Maybe all that complicated drama stuff happens mostly in the movies. I can't say only because there are exceptions. I don't know. I don't really know if all that stuff happens. I'm a pretty laid back, non-drama, old fashioned kind of girl. Or at least I like to think so.. and I really try my best to avoid drama. It's not a good look.
This post is all over the place. I don't even have a point to this. I think? I'm really not sure. I sound like such an idiot. I just had so many thoughts floating around in my head after the movie, I just needed to get some out.
Hah....
Why am I so awkward.
