All aboard the FAIL train!

This video makes me laugh every time I watch it. It makes me wonder if Camille is ever faced with that when she takes the train in Japan. She'd totally be appalled if she was ever shoved and crammed in like that, haha. Camille, are you reading this? How is Korea? I'm so jealous! I miss you :)

Paper due tomorrow. UGH. Can't wait until all this ends!

Some old pictures

Food pictures from my birthday lunch with a couple of RCCCFers in K-Town. We went to eat at BCD (I don't think it's affliated with Flushing BCD) for lunch and I ordered their soondubu chigae. I don't remember which I got, but judging from the picture, I think it was beef?

Friends surprised me with a birthday cake from Magnolia Bakery after we ate. It was actually pretty funny, because I was totally oblivious to the fact that they got me a cake, despite the fact that one of them accidentally slipped and mentioned the cake. I totally didn't pick it up. The cake was yummy, decadent and chock-full of chocolately goodness. Unfortunately, I had to leave for Rochester the next day, so I only had one slice of the cake, but I'm sure my family enjoyed it on my behalf. After lunch, we went to Pinkberry (of course. No trip to K-Town is complete without a stop at Pinkberry/Red Mango), where they proceeded to spell my name wrong. But since they gave me a ton of strawberries, I forgave them.

Now, back to my paper...

Not that I've progressed very far in the past hour and half. Twitter and DISGRASIAN and D-Listed have been distracting me. UGH. Must be more productive.

Tomorrow's the last day of classes! YAY. But at the same time, not yay. It just means paper writing to the maxxx.

Every love song suddenly is filled with meaning.

I just realized that I do this a lot: whenever I go to the library, I turn my laptop on, plug in my earphones, put them on and begin doing work, without ever starting up iTunes. I usually sit around for a good half an hour or so before I realize that I don't have any music blasting from my earphones. I've heard of people who do that so they can eavesdrop on others' conversations, but... I'm in a library; no one talks when they study in the Periodical Room. It's dead silent in here, save for the occasional scraping of chairs.

Anyway, I deactivated my Facebook account today. I've never done anything like this before, but because of the steady stream of final papers/assignments/exams I have for the next week and half (until 6pm on May 8), I figured it would be beneficial to cut out a distraction (read: addiction). Maybe it'll prove to be extremely helpful in increasing my productivity. Who knows? I think I was pretty productive in high school, before Facebook came along? ...I think... I can barely remember what life was like before Facebook. Pretty scary.

I'll still be flittering around on my blog and on twitter so I won't be completely cut off from the world. And of course, I'll still be a slave to my gmail.

Hopefully, this Facebook deactivation business will free up some of my time and I'll finally have time to write a letter back to Joanna. I've been meaning to do that for the longest time. Jo, if you are reading this, I'm so sorry for the delay and I promise I'll try to send out a letter to you as soon as I can!!

Rundown for finals week:
April 29 - Last day of classes. HIS 301W final paper draft due (2500-4000 words)
May 1 - HIS 238 paper on The Idea of India due (5-6 pages)
May 4 - HIS 168 final paper due (10 pages)
May 5 - CHI 203 oral exam
May 6 - HIS 301W final paper due (2500-4000 words)
May 8 - HIS 238 final take home exam due (4-6 pages), AST 104 final exam

It's going to be a long, long, long week.

Seventh inning stretch

The semester is winding down to its final weeks. My junior year has but a mere 2 weeks left. It's really scary to think about it; one more year and then it's onto the "real" world. High school wasn't that bad because I had college to look forward to, but now that my college years are beginning to dissipate in front of my eyes, I don't really have anything to look forward to.

Well, I guess I can look forward to "being an adult" though I'm not exactly sure that's something that many people look forward to. While I do want to get married and have kids and have a family of my own, it's not something that is in my near future. All those things are a bit intimidating, to be honest. I just wish I knew where to go from here. But then it would take the fun out of life.

I'm thinking and pondering too much. The only thing I need to look forward to right now is finishing all my final papers and final exams in one piece. That's all I really want right now. To be done with this semester. It wasn't a very good one, academically speaking. Yuck. Let's not talk about it any further.

I could go for one of these right now:

Mmmm, so good. Dunkin' Donuts ain't gotta thang on Tim Horton's. For real.

PS. Going back to my previous post about how fickle Mother Nature is being, here is your local [Rochester] weather update: Friday was beautiful, high 70s, yesterday was also beautiful, low to mid 80s, today started out bleak and dreary, mid 50s, and right now it's sunny, low to mid 60s. And tomorrow? Supposedly, it's going to be beautiful and mid 80s.

See? Mother Nature can't decide on a consistent weather front if her life depended on it.

Don't mind me. I'm just a little peeved about these weather patterns.

yogen früz

Stumbled upon this place last weekend while I was at Eastview Mall with Michelle and Susan. It's like Pinkberry and Red Mango except they have an option of blending the fruit into the frozen yogurt. I got strawberry, raspberry and blueberries. It was yummy. A nice treat that completed the lovely weekend.

Weird/funny tidbit: I googled Yogen Fruz and decided to play with the store finder on their main website. I typed in my zipcode for Rochester and figured that Eastview would come up first, seeing how it is the closest one (that I know of) in the area. Instead, the store finder directed me to Niagara Falls and Canada for the closest locations. It's probably because the Eastview one is part of the mall, and not an actual store.

Okay, okay, that wasn't a very funny tidbit, but it still amused me that the website sent me to Canada to get my frozen yogurt fix.

Shake down, you make me break.

Rochester weather has got to make up its mind. A few days ago, it was warm, sunny and beautiful. Now it's cloudy, windy, rainy and cold. I went from flip flops to winter jacket in a matter of days. Something is wrong with that sentence. At least the weekend has a positive outlook; it's supposed to be 80 degrees! 30 degree jump in two days. MAKE UP YOUR MIND, MOTHER NATURE.

Right.

Ahem.

Anyhoo. I had mentioned a few posts ago about my dilemma of whether I should go to Shanghai for a few weeks after I finished finals or attend Dan's graduation instead. WELL, my mother solved it for me. I'm not going to China and I'm not going to Dan's graduation.

A few weeks back when I called my mom to discuss the issue, she yelled at me about being frivolous (Mind you, she was yelling at me in Chinese. Frivolous is the best translation I could come up with) for wanting to go back to Rochester with Dan's parents for his graduation. Imagine that. Me, being frivolous for wanting to attend the most important day in my boyfriend's college career. Yeah, Mom. How silly of me. @%%@#$!@%@!!

Ahem. Getting back to my story, she then proceeded to tell me that she already booked the tickets for her and my dad to Shanghai, and it was too late to get me one, so I would have to stay home while they go traipsing around Shanghai. It wouldn't be so bad if I had something to do (like a job/internship ... WHICH I DON'T. YET. I'm still looking) or if I had my license and a car to drive myself around in (though I have a feeling, even if I did have my license, I wouldn't even be allowed to drive my dad's car. He'd probably take the keys with him to China to prevent me from driving it). I still think it's a little ridiculous that my mom won't let me go to Dan's graduation. Shoot, it's ridiculous that I even asked her for permission. I am, technically, an adult, capable of making my own decisions. Yet, my mother still treats me like I'm 16 years old. And I let her.

This is really all my fault. I need to break away.
NEED TO MOVE OUT AFTER GRADUATION. ASAP.

Trip to Buffalo!

A few weeks ago Steph came to visit Rochester and we (as in Steph, Dan and me) took a mini-trip to Buffalo/Niagara Falls for a day. We didn't get to go over to the Canadian side of the falls because Steph couldn't get her passport on time, so we just wandered around on the American side. The weather sucked that day, so after we took our obligatory pictures of the falls, we stayed indoors, where it was nice and warm.

Gift shop!

You can kind of see the Canadian falls.

The highlight of our trip was dinner at the famous Anchor Bar, home of the original buffalo wings. It was pretty packed when we got there around 6ish but we were seated within 10 minutes of getting there. We ordered a ton of food; 50 wings (25 medium, 25 spicy BBQ), 2 orders of fries and an order of fried mushrooms. It was a bit ambitious to think that the three of us would be able to eat all that food, but we made a considerable dent.

DELICIOUS.

Wings, fried mushrooms, fries and beer (not pictured). It was the perfect combination. It really was. So what if it seems like a "manly" meal? ...I'm okay with that because I LOVED IT. Mm'mm good.

I want to go again! NOM NOM NOM.

Early morning

It's almost 4:30 in the morning. I'm still trying to write my paper. My stomach has been disagreeing with me all night long. I'm actually not as tired as I thought I would be. The paper is due in 5 hours and I also have in exam in 8 hours (that I haven't studied for AT ALL. Surprise, surprise).

Mm, I'm just a bit overwhelmed. All this schoolwork has been bombarding for a while now. Can't even remember how long. I just know it's been a while. BLAH. I'm hungry.

Plans for the summer

Last summer was not a very productive summer for me. All I did was swim, eat, spend money and bum around like nobody's business. While I did enjoy the swimming and relaxation, I spent many days bored out of my fuh-reakin' mind. But this summer, no more! I really do not want a repeat of last summer. I want to be productive. I need to be productive. I'm really hoping I'll do something worthwhile before I leave for Beijing at the end of August.

OH WHAAAT?

YEAH, THAT'S RIGHT. I'm going abroad for my fall semester! I'm really excited!! I really need this change of scenery and change of pace. Need to experience new things, places and people. I. CAN'T. WAIT!

But before that can happen, I NEED to find an internship. Or a job. Something. ANYTHING. I've sent out my resume to a bunch of places, but so far, I haven't heard anything. I have another list of places that I am interested in, but first I need to get up off my lazy butt and revise my cover letter before I can do anything. Need to remember to get on that.

Ugh. Now that the semester is winding down, I am getting busier by the second. There is always something that I need to do, whether it be reading, studying for an exam, writing a paper, researching, WHATEVER. Blah.

I might be going to Shanghai for 3 weeks after finals week. I'm still not sure about that yet because 1) Might get an internship that starts in May and 2) Dan's graduation is during Memorial Day weekend. Dilemma, dilemmaaaaaa. I really want to go visit Shanghai; it's been a while since I was last there (it's been ... 7 years. Almost), buttttttttttttt I also want to go to Dan's graduation and watch him walk. WHAT DO I DOOOO. AAARRRRGGHHHH.

I don't know. I am still contemplating. Will update about what happens.
I need to go back to my homework. It rules my life.

[Picture removed]
Don't I look happy about the homework that I have to do? HAH.

Bee-tee-dubs, Happy April! Hope it's happier than the one I'm having.
I don't know about you, but it snowed here in Rochester on Sunday night, Monday and there were a few flurries this morning. It just doesn't make sense. But then again, Rochester weather has never really made any sense.

Rochester weather is a bit confused about the seasons. It doesn't understand that the rhyme goes "April showers bring May flowers" NOT "April snow showers kill May flowers." Uhh yeah, we're going to have to work on that one.

I have a tendency to be a bit kooky after midnight.

I took off the pictures of me because I got tired/sick of seeing my face every time I came onto my page. That one picture of me in my profile is enough.
