My mom is a fob

I discovered this amazing website today: http://www.mymomisafob.com

Here's a sample of some of the posts on this site:

So my mom is a VERY protective mother. This is what happened after she watched a 60 minutes special on Online Predators. I’m watching a Video Blog on Youtube…

Mom:
Who is that guy?
Me: I don’t know
Mom: Why is he talking to you??
Me: It’s a video…
Mom (at the computer): GO AWAY, MY DAUGHTER DON’T WANT TO MEET UP AND TALK TO YOU

I should probably be listening to the discussion my class is having about the Vietnam War right now, but it's depressing. This website is much more entertaining. There were several instances where I almost laughed out loud, but I attempted to cover it up with a fake cough. I probably looked really stupid, but I don't care. Mymomisafob.com is genius. There's mydadisafob.com too. HAHA. Awesome.

Things that make me happy

I happened upon this blog called MissWisabus earlier (when I was supposed to be studying, oops...) and saw her most recent entry about some good things she enjoys when her day is going badly. It inspired me to make a list of all the things that make me happy/smile/feel good. Especially because these past two weeks have been particularly stressful and unsettling. I can always count on these things to put a smile on my face.

♥ Baking something yummy to share with friends.
♥ A good, face to face conversation with a friend.
♥ Inside jokes.
♥ Sunshine.
♥ Pictures of food.
♥ Food blogs.
♥ Cooking for friends.
♥ Reading thepioneerwoman.com (my most recent obsession)
♥ Knowing that Dan is nearby in case I ever need a big hug.
♥ How I Met Your Mother.
♥ The Office.
♥ 30 Rock.
♥ Dan's hamster, Beast.
♥ A delicious meal.
♥ Listening to old songs from HS.
♥ Seeing Dan happy.
♥ Seeing my friends happy.
♥ Getting snail mail.
♥ Reading a ridiculously good book. So good that I can't bear to put it down.
♥ A nice, soothing swim.

Just thinking about these things make me feel better.
Now... back to school work.

I am the ultimate bum

This has become my daily outfit (not the EXACT same thing every day, but I'm usually wearing all sweats...). I've been so engrossed in school work that I haven't really been taking notice of what I wear. I wake up, shower, get dressed in my bum outfit, put a little bit of make-up on, tie my hair up and go to class. Pretty straightforward. Not impressive at all. Sad, isn't it?

Story of my life.

Just live your life

Mmmm, more procrastination.

I think the majority of my time is spent doing nothing, and I get random bursts of academic breakthroughs and that is when parts of my paper gets written. It's quite sad and I'm ashamed to admit it. My conquest to become a history scholar is going to be hindered by the evils of procrastination. Ultimately, it's my own fault. It's me who decides to minimize my Word window and open up Facebook, or in this case, Blogger. You are the bane of my existence!! *Shakes fist*

I'm currently hiding in the RIT library (it's very quiet here, no one really comes to study at RIT... unlike UofR where I have to walk around for a good 30 minutes before I can find an empty spot in the library. My school is full of NERDS), listening to the radio on iTunes and avoiding my paper that is due today. The professor never specified what time he wants us to hand in the paper by, so I am just avoiding it as much as I can. We don't even have to hand in a hard copy to him; he said we can email it to him and that he'd make notes and email it back to us. Come on now, that's just telling students (like me, the lazy bum) to procrastinate.

Ok, I really need to get going on this paper. I'm approximately 33% done. Dan said that if I finish my paper by the time he gets out of class, he's going to take me out to dinner, anything I want, even (and I quote) "poop behind a dumpster." I don't know why he said that, but it makes me laugh.

Mmm, free dinner, pretty good incentive. Time to get a-crackin'!

Procrastination at its best

Why am I here? I should really be working on my paper right now. I have no right to complain. I've brought this upon myself. I really wish I was better. But really, I'm no better than I was last semester. I'm still waiting until the last minute to do my schoolwork, and I'm still taking my sweet time to get things done. I suck at life.

I really need some coffee.

我想就這樣牽著妳的手不放開,愛可不可以簡簡單單沒有傷害?

"it's interesting to hear about all the things going around me. it's strange because i see certain people at least every week, yet i know so little of what is going on in their daily lives. we encounter so many people with each passing day, yet we never know what is going on inside of their hearts and minds when we talk to them. they hide their feelings because they are afraid of what other people will say or how they will react. it's a crying shame that people are so fearful of being true to themselves because they worry about what others will think. but to be frank, we can all say we don't care about what others say, but deep down, we actually do care. you know it, i know it. we all feel that way. we say things, but we don't necessarily do them or abide by them. we tell ourselves that we don't care about the opinions of others because we want to seem independent, unique, strong, brave, admirable. but if you really think about it, that is how everyone feels. we all want to feel individual in some way or another, and in our haste to all be original, we all become the same because we're attempting to take the same approach. ironic, isn't it? it's funny how life works."
I spent a good chunk of my studying time yesterday logging into old xangas and reading my old entries. I found this one and thought it was [probably] worth re-posting. I've been in a very reflective mood these past few days, thinking about where I used to be, who I used to be, where I am now, who I am now. I've been thinking a lot about what I want to do with my life, and what I want to get out of it. Of course, the obvious answer is "to get the most out of life." But that is a pretty broad gamut of possibilities.

The first thing on my agenda is to find an internship for the summer. I definitely do what I did last summer; sitting around with absolutely nothing to do all summer. It was ridiculously boring and I felt like such a waste of life minus the swimming in the morning. Need to be more productive. MUST be more productive.

I need to take more pictures of everyone and everything around me. I used to take pictures all the time and now I'm lucky if I remember to take out my camera to snap a few good moments. AND, I seriously need to go to the gym. I am looking and feeling pretty gross. Looking at all the pretty, skinny people around me who complain about being "fat" depresses the heck out of me. If they're considered "fat" then I am like, overly obese. Ugh. Now I just feel crummy.

It's going to be 57 degrees in Rochester tomorrow...

Old habits die hard when you've got a sentimental heart

Why is it that we are dissatisfied with ourselves? There is always something that could be different, that could be better. I look at myself and I think, "I wish I could be smarter, better at managing my time, skinnier, more talented, more outgoing, etc." It's an endless list, I think. Even if I somehow achieved all these things, there will probably be something that I'm unhappy with later on. It's a constant cycle. I look at other people around me, and I think, "They seem like they have it so together; they seem like they are happy with everything they have." But in actuality, they're not. They are just like me, dissatisfied with some part of their life. The key word is seems. Everything is not what it seems to be. It never is. It looks all pretty and dandy on the surface, but it's always so much more complicated than we can ever imagine.

That's just life, I guess.

I've been reading a lot of my old blog posts lately. Certain circumstances have brought me to open up old wounds and share my experiences with a friend. Looking back on it, I used to write a lot, and a lot of what I wrote about had to do with heartbreak and heartache. A big chunk of my high school years went to crying/pining/whining/being depressed over a boy. Thinking back on it now, I feel pretty silly admitting to that. But I think the experience was necessary in order for me to become the person I am right now. There are things I'd like to change, but without that seemingly devestating heartbreak, I'd still be overly sentimental and overly optimistic about love. I don't mean that I'm cynical about love, but I would like to say that I am less likely to fall to pieces over love like I did in high school.

Love is never as easy as we would like it to be.

GLC 330 mascot

Herro?!

Steph and I just spent the past half hour fawning over the new addition to our suite, Dan's cute and furry teddy bear hamster, Beast (his full name is The Savage Beast, but we call him Beast for short, haha). Dan brought him over to live with us last week because he couldn't keep Beast at his place anymore. Sucks for Dan, but works out for me. I like having him here; he's such cutie pie. I took a ton of pictures of him eating carrots and exploring on the kitchen table. He has a fondness for corners and cracks as well as electrical wires. He also enjoys a good bottle of Febreeze and likes to look over the edge of the table. Beast lives life on the edge, that's for sure.

So cute! :)

He was very into his carrot.

Poster hamster for Febreeze Air Effects.

This kept me entertained for quite some time.

I should really be sleeping right now. I have China Nite practice tomorrow. Despite my attempts to release myself from any China Nite obligations (for once, I just wanted to sit and watch the show!), I was still roped into doing something for it. It is now a requirement of all Chinese classes to participate in the show, and so because I'm still taking Chinese, I have to be on stage tomorrow night, singing a song about pursuing a girl. Mm, fun. I'm looking forward to the show though. I'm really curious to see how it is going to turn out. I kind of miss being a part of it, but at the same time, I am glad I don't have any part in it because I feel so much more relaxed this semester. IT'S GREAT. HAHA.

The hall still smells. Suite still semi-reeks. I've been spraying Febreeze every half an hour or so to keep the smell at bay. Gah, I really hope it gets fixed soon.

My smelly hall.

For the past week or so (I think longer actually), there's been this terrible smell lingering in my hall. It's gotten so bad that the smell has traveled into my suite. Steph and I have been complaining about it on our blog for awhile. But yeah, the smell is truly repulsive. Makes me want to throw up. I have to hold my breath every time I reach my hall and make a run for my door. But even when I get inside, it still reeks. In the past week, I've purchased two different air fresheners/odor repellent, yet the smell still won't go away.

Steph made a courteous complaint to our RA and though we assumed that nothing would probably be done for a while, there were actually people doing something about it this morning! There were a few men examining the refuse chute when Steph left in the morning. There was banging and murmuring. When I left, they were gone, but I swear the smell wasn't as bad as it had been earlier this morning. Maybe I was being too hopeful, but I think they kind of fixed it a little. I guess I won't know for sure until I get back there later today. I REALLY hope the smell is gone. Like seriously.

Please, please, please. Let the smell be gone.

Sitting alone on a bicycle for two.

Just downloaded a few episodes of How I Met Your Mother that I was missing along with a handful of new songs to listen to. I should be reading White Mughals, but I think I need a break from it. In fact, I've been taking breaks from reading all night; explains why I haven't progressed very far in the book. I fail at being a student. The music I'm listening to right now makes me feel like I am on one of the Hawaiian islands, without a care in the world. Wouldn't that be nice? Makes me forget that I am in miserable, snowy Rochester.

My professors need to stop assigning 100 pages of reading per week... per class. Seriously. Stop it. This week has been the worst. This week, they've assigned entire books to read for the week. Dubya tee eff. Not cool.

I'm hungry. My stomach is roaring at me.
