Every driver's travel nightmare

Although I am not a driver, I can sympathize with those who had to drive yesterday because it was pure traffic hell. It took 11 hours to get back to Rochester yesterday. Not to mention, it was raining the ENTIRE trip back. Uber depressing. Dan, Oronde and I left Brooklyn around 2:40pm and we did not get back to Rochester until nearly 2am. It was ridiculous! I was (and still am) so exhausted from yesterday's trip. What normally takes about 5 1/2 to 6 hours stretched itself to a torturous and maddening 11 hours. But at least I had good company. I can't imagine how it must have been for solo drivers. I think I would have gone mad.

Here is a picture of one of the many signs we saw while we were on the highway:

I'm so tired. Monday is a long day for me; full day of classes and a 3 hour lab. Oy. And I have to finish that wretched term paper. Ugh x 1000. I can't wait for the Boar's Head Dinner on Thursday. And Thursday means that I have no term paper to worry about because I have to get rid of it by Wednesday.

Thursday, oh Thursday, can't you come faster?

Totally random tidbit: I had a macaron for the first time on Saturday, and oh oh, I think I am in love <3

Back in Rochester

So I guess this marks the end of my uneventful summer vacation. Though I didn't do much this summer, it was a very relaxing one. The only thing I can brag about this summer is all the swimming I've done. I have gotten so much better at swimming and I feel so proud of myself. I've discovered a soothing outlet in the water. Too bad I didn't discover this earlier on, or else maybe I could have been in Beijing for the Olympics, haha! Right.

Anyhoo, I've been back in Rochester for a few days now. A very uneventful few days, as well, but I don't mind. I'll miss the calm and lazy days once school sets in. It is going to be a very busy semester. I'm looking forward to it, but at the same time, I'm not. It is going to be a packed, stressful, tearful semester. Freaking junior year. JUNIOR. What the heck! When did this happen? Oy oy oy. It's a bit surreal.

It's passing by all so quickly.
I want bubble tea.

All we can do is keep breathing

I shouldn't try so hard. These things should be more natural. It's kind of ridiculous that I recite silly little instructions to myself about how I should do that or this. My mother is always telling me what to do, what I should do, how I should act, and look. All of her words are beating me down. I can't think clearly. I'm tired of listening to her. I hear her words, but my mind is too full to take anything in. I'm tired. I don't even have the strength to tell her that I can't take this verbal abuse anymore. I need some room to fly. I need some space to do things my own way.

I miss Rochester. I miss my independence.

How does she expect me to be independent when she makes me so reliant on her?

I need to clear my head. All I can do is keep breathing.
This will all be over soon.

Rain check!

For once it is raining in Rochester instead of snowing. That's good sign, right? That spring is upon us? Um, wrong. Despite the fact that tomorrow is the first day of spring, the rain is supposed to turn into snow later on tonight. Oy, why won't the snow go away? It was so nice to be back at home for the few days I stayed; the weather was warm (Ok, high 40s isn't exactly "warm", but it felt really warm to me after 20 degree weather in Rochester) and the sun was shining. Not to mention, there wasn't any snow to be seen. Oh, I can't wait for the day when there isn't any more snow in Rochester -____-''

I'm totally skipping class right now. What can I say? I'm actually not that great of a student. I'm actually not really worried about my history classes because I'm doing fine in both of them. I'm actually a bit behind in Chinese and my last two tests haven't been superb. My teacher has become really picky this semester about proper sentence formations and she wants us to follow the textbook exactly. Even though what I write out is technically correct (in the colloquial sense), but because it's not textbook, she takes off points. And let me tell you, those little points freakin' add up. Blargh.

In other news, I think about how I might come off to other people too much. Who cares what other people think or even might think about me? People shouldn't obsess over things like that. I certainly don't have the time to do that (since I have so much Chinese work to catch up on). But sometimes, I still can't help but catch myself thinking about how other people view me and what they might think when they see me. I even think about what perfect strangers might think of me when they pass me by. I know, I know. Why does that even matter?! It doesn't, but the thought still crosses my mind occasionally. And then it affects me and my day. I'll wake up one morning and think to myself, "Oh, okay. Today I'm going to be a better student, more diligent. I'll be nicer, quieter and act more reserved, yet friendly at the same time. And blah blah blah blah blah." What a bunch of crap.

Sometimes, I feel like I'm a fake. And I really hope I'm not.
Yet as I type these words, the thought flickers across my mind, "I wonder what people will think when (or if) they read this."
Sad, isn't it?
